Challenge 122

How much should the jeweler pay?

Difficulty level:

A jeweler and the innkeeper argue. The jeweler promised to pay the owner of the inn $ 20.00 for the accommodation if he sold the jewelry for $ 100.00 and would pay $ 35.00 if selling the jewelry for $ 200.00.

Knowing that the jeweler ended up selling everything for $ 140.00, how much should he pay the innkeeper?

The jeweler says he should only pay $ 24.50.
"If for the sale at R $ 200,00 I would pay R $ 35,00, for the sale of R $ 140,00 I must pay R $ 24,50."

RULE OF THREE:
200 ----> 35
140 ---> x
140 35 = 200. x => x = 24.50

The innkeeper contests that the jeweler is wrong.
"If for the sale of $ 100 I should get $ 20, for $ 140 I should get $ 28."

RULE OF THREE:
100 ----> 20
140 ---> x
140 20 = 100. x => x = 28
