Challenge Response 175

Birds and rabbits

Let's represent the number of birds per P and the number of rabbits per ç. Considering that birds have two feet and rabbits have four, we get two equations:

p + c = 16
2p + 4c = 38

Isolating P In the first equation we have:

p = 16 - c

Replacing P in the second equation:

2p + 4c = 38
2 (16c) + 4c = 38
32 - 2c + 4c = 38
2c = 6
c = 3

As we have 3 rabbits, the number of birds is:

p = 16 - 3
p = 13
