About iPadOS 14 Updates

iPadOS 14 introduces new Apple Pencil features and redesigned apps that take advantage of iPad's large Multi-Touch display. Compact designs for Siri, search and phone calls help you to stay focused on the task at hand. Intelligent new features like Shape recognition and Smart Selection make note-taking even better. Scribble lets you handwrite into any text field with Apple Pencil and automatically converts your writing into text. And a new Depth API in ARKit 4 allows developers to create even more realistic AR experiences.

Some features may not be available for all regions or on all Apple devices. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website:

Code With Me, a service for collaborative development and pair programming, now comes in IntelliJ IDEA out of the box. It also features video and voice calls, taking remote collaboration to the next level. Whenever you want to talk to your colleagues, you can initiate audio and video calls right from your JetBrains IDE. Code With Me works perfectly for both 1:1 meetings and group sessions, to which you can invite dozens of participants. To learn more about these updates, read our blog post.

I have the same exact issue. I did the update that was available for Catalina and my Safari was updated to 14.1 as part of that.

It is now unusable. We should not have to reinstall the operating system. This was an apple update. My computer was running perfectly before update. I am seeing many people with the same issue. Hopefully there will be a fix.

I've just installed Safari 14.1 on a MBP running Mojave after the OS suggested the update along with a Security update and have the same problem, Ebay and several other sites constantly failing to load pages and throwing out requests to reload. Your suggestion is to re-install the OS because Apple broke the browser? What is that based on ? It would seem better to just use Chrome or Firefox until Apple figures out what they broke.

This seems to be similar to issues others are having after the Safari 14.1 update 4/27/2021 that was part of the Catalina 10.15.7 update and it relates to JavaScript.

Turn off “Enable Javascript” in Safari: Preferences: Security

See if this resolves the the issue loading pages

This is not a solution since pages are only partially complete and lacks any Javascript functionality.

I am still searching for a fix.

Bottom Line: At this point this is most likely an Apple bug/issue related to 14.1 and they need to offer a fix other than an OSX reinstall and that reminds me of the #1 Microsoft Windows issue solution!

New ProStandard Camera Profiles

Apart from these new features, developers have added ProStandard profiles for a number of new cameras:

1D X, 1D X Mk II, 1D X Mk III, 5DS, 6D, 6D Mk II, 7D, 7D Mk II, R, SX70 HS.

System Requirements

We recommend that your computer has at least the minimum specifications outlined below to run Capture One.

Apple® Macintosh® minimum requirements

  • Intel® Core™ i3 (1st generation)
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • 10 GB of free hard disk space
  • Calibrated monitor with 1280x800, 24-bit resolution at 96dpi
  • macOS 10.13, macOS 10.14, macOS 10.15, macOS 11*

*MacOS 11 is supported for builds up to 11.2

Microsoft® Windows® minimum requirements

  • Intel or AMD CPU with 2 cores
  • 8 GB of RAM
  • 10 GB of free hard disk space
  • Calibrated monitor with 1280x800, 24-bit resolution at 96dpi
  • Windows 8.1® 64-bit, Windows 10® 64-bit*

*Support for Capture One 21 on Windows 10 is supported for builds supporting .NET 4.7 - This is currently from build 1607 through to build 20H2.

Recommended system requirements

If working with high-resolution images and doing calculation-heavy adjustments we recommend the following:

Calibrated monitor with at least 1920x1200, 24-bit resolution at

4k / 5k monitors

Due to the significant additional calculation overhead, systems using 4k/5k monitors will require additional resources in addition to the above- recommended spec (both in GPU and CPU power). For a professional experience, we recommend at least doubling the specification above for these configurations.

Apple iOS 14.1 Release: Should You Upgrade?

Apple iOS 14.1 is here and it brings new features and a lot of fixes, following the (surprisingly problematic) iOS 14.0.1 release. Unfortunately, it also reintroduces a familiar flaw. Here’s everything you need to know.

Tip: bookmark this page because I will keep it up to date if/when new problems are found. I will deliver my final verdict in a week.

10/30 Update: Final verdict below

Who Is It For?

Apple iOS 14.1 has been released for every iOS 13-compatible device. That means the iPhone 6S and newer and 7th generation iPod touch. An update notification should arrive automatically but, if not, you can trigger it manually by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update. Beta testers, if you are running iOS 14.2 (see ‘The Road Ahead’ section at the end), you must unenroll your iPhone for iOS 14.1 to show up.

iPad owners, Apple has moved you to iPadOS. This is not an iPadOS-focused guide, but I will touch upon pertinent issues in these guides.

The Deal Breakers

Jailbreakers, stay away. Unc0ver is still stuck on iOS 13.5 at the time of publication and while checkra1n has an iOS 14 jailbreak (not iOS 14.1), which is currently restricted to Apple devices running A9(X) chipsets and older.

Perhaps the biggest deal breaker in iOS 14.1, however, is it reintroduces a variant of the bug in iOS 14 where your choice of default mail and browser apps is reset. First spotted on Twitter and confirmed by The Verge, after installing iOS 14.1, whenever your chosen third party email and browser apps update, your selections will be removed and revert to Apple Mail and Safari. There’s no easy fix for this, and Apple will need to issue another iOS update to address it.

So What Do You Get?

Apple lists the following iOS 14.1 upgrades and fixes:

  • Adds support for 10-bit HDR video playback and edit in ‌Photos‌ for ‌iPhone‌ 8 and later
  • Addresses an issue where some ‌widgets‌, folders, and icons were showing up in reduced size on the Home Screen
  • Addresses an issue where dragging ‌widgets‌ on the ‌Home Screen‌ could remove apps from folders
  • Fixes an issue where some emails in Mail were sent from an incorrect alias
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent incoming calls from displaying region information
  • Fixes an issue on some devices where selecting zoomed display mode and an alphanumeric passcode could result in the Lock Screen emergency call button overlapping with the text input box
  • Addresses an issue where some users were occasionally unable to download or add songs to their library while viewing an album or playlist
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent zeroes from appearing in Calculator
  • Resolves an issue where streaming video resolution could temporarily be reduced at the start of playback
  • Fixes an issue that prevented setting up a family member’s Apple Watch for some users
  • Resolves an issue where the Apple Watch case material was displayed incorrectly in the Apple Watch app
  • Addresses an issue in the Files app that could cause some MDM-managed cloud service providers to incorrectly display content as unavailable
  • Improves compatibility with Ubiquiti wireless access points

This is a curiously feature-light update for a ‘major point’ release and several of the fixes (as noted above) are not working for everyone. Surprisingly, iOS 14.1 is also not listed on Apple’s official security page so it is unclear whether there are no security patches in the release or the company has been tardy updating the page. I’ll update this article if it appears.

Apple iOS 14.1 Verdict: Stay Away

iOS 14.1 fixes several bugs, but it also (re)introduces a widespread one in resetting users’ third party browser and email default apps. Those sticking to Apple Mail and Safari, may still want to take the plunge but if you already enjoy a largely bug free experience, there’s no real gain in upgrading to iOS 14.1. I will upgrade this guide in a week with my final verdict.

10/30 Update: no significant additional problems have arisen over the last week, but the flaws Vs benefits clearly outweigh upgrading to iOS 14.1. Especially with iOS 14.2 coming soon, and possible an iOS 14.1.1 update before that. I recommend you skip iOS 14.1.

The Road Ahead

Apple iOS 14.2 is currently on its fourth beta and it introduces new emojis, Music Recognition for the Control Center (think: integrated Shazam), a redesigned Now Playing Widget, an upgraded interface for AirPlay (optimized for multiple-device streaming), enhanced Apple Card features and support for HomePod’s upcoming Intercom functionality.

That said, unless iOS 14.2 is coming out in the next few weeks, I’d expect iOS 14.1.1 to be fast tracked to fix the third party email and browser problems. Watch this space.

IOS 14.1 update released! Here’s what’s new

Apple has released iOS 14.1 and iPadOS 14.1, adding support for the newly announced iPhone 12. New features include improved camera modes for new models and HDR video recording.

According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 14.1 offers a number of bug fixes. It addresses a major issue where some emails were sent under the wrong alias. It also fixes an issue that could cause widgets and icons to appear the wrong size and fixes a bug that could prevent zeros from appearing in the Calculator app.

3 Set a guard over my mouth, (F) Lord
keep watch over the door of my lips. (G)

so that I take part in wicked deeds (I)
along with those who are evildoers
do not let me eat their delicacies. (J)

5 Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness
let him rebuke me (K) —that is oil on my head. (L)
My head will not refuse it,
for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers.

6 Their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, (M)
and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken.
7 They will say, “As one plows (N) and breaks up the earth, (O)
so our bones have been scattered at the mouth (P) of the grave.”

8 But my eyes are fixed (Q) on you, Sovereign Lord
in you I take refuge (R) —do not give me over to death.
9 Keep me safe (S) from the traps set by evildoers, (T)
from the snares (U) they have laid for me.

while I pass by in safety. (W)

Ecclesiastes 2:17,23 Therefore I hated life because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit…

(1) Man that is born of a woman is of few days. --He now takes occasion to dilate on the miserable estate of man generally, rising from the particular instance in himself to the common lot of the race. It is not improbable that these words should be connected with the last of the former chapter. He, as a rotten thing, consumeth -- a man born of woman, short of days and full of trouble, who came forth as a flower and was ( began to be ) cut off ( at once ) who fled as the shadow that abideth not. After having resolved to come into judgment with God, he pictures to himself the miserable creature with whom God will have to contend if He contends with him.

Verses 1-22. - This chapter, in which Job concludes the fourth of his addresses, is characterized by a tone of mild and gentle expostulation, which contrasts with the comparative vehemence and passion of the two preceding chapters. It would seem that the patriarch, having vented his feelings, experiences a certain relief, an interval of calm, in which, his own woes pressing less heavily upon him, he is content to moralize on the general condition of humanity. Verse 1. - Man that is born of a woman . In this fact Job sees the origin of man's inherent weakness. He is "born of a woman," who is "the weaker vessel" (1 Peter 3:7). He is conceived by her in uncleanness (Psalm 51:5 comp. below, ver. 4), brought forth in sorrow and pain (Genesis 3:16) suckled at her breasts, placed for years under her guidance. No wonder that he shares the weakness of which she is a sort of type. Is of few days literally, short of days. Length and shortness of days are, no doubt, relative and it is difficult to say what term of life would not have seemed short to men as they looked back upon it. To Jacob, at the age of a hundred and thirty, it appeared that " few and evil had the days of the years of his life been" (Genesis 47:9). Methuselah, perhaps, thought the same. We all, as we come towards old age, and death draws manifestly near, feel as if we had only just begun to live, as if, at any rate, we had not done half our work, and were about to be cut off before our time. But would the case be seriously different if our tale of years were doubled? And fall of trouble (comp. Job 5:7).
